The SEMINARIES ENDOWMENT FUND (SEF) was launched by the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops in November 2018.

The idea of an endowment fund is to collect funds from different sources and pool them. These funds are then prudently and professionally invested and the investment income is then spent on the purpose for which the fund was created.

Why the SEF?

The purpose of the SEF is to ensure the five major seminaries in Kenya have the resources they need to effectively and comfortably carry out their role of training future priests for the Church in Kenya.

A seminary is an institution where young men who perceive they are called by God to the priesthood undergo an intense training with the aim of discerning their call more clearly and equipping them with the necessary tools that will enable them live their priestly ministry fruitfully and joyfully.

The SEF will be responsible for awarding scholarships to all Kenyan seminarians studying for priesthood in the Kenyan National Seminaries. The scholarship will cater for tuition and accommodation.

Wise words we cherish.

The priest is not and must not be a civil servant of the Church. Above all the priest is a man who lives for the spirit for God. This being the case the Seminary is the place where he learns 'to be with Him.'
